TO KILL NITS.
A pound of coarse tobacco boiled for 16 or 20 minutes in a gallon of water, and to which, when cool, Boz of crude carbolic acid is added, may be kept in a gar as a dressing for vermin in stock. Three or four applications; at intervale of a couple of days, are necessary in all bad cases, to. get rid of the tormentors, their immature progeny, and their eggs. The black nits adhering to the hair continue to be hatched for days after the parents are destroyed. Any common oil, well rubbed in, is. tolerably effectual, clogging thebreathingpores of the parasites, and causing their destruction. Stalled cattle, brushed over daily, as they should be, both for cleanliness and health, are little liable to vermin.
