At Akaroa on the 19th a complimentary dinner was given to Mr F. VV. Williams, a settler of nearly 25 years’ standing on the Peninsula, who was leaving that district for the North Island. Mr W. Montgomery, the member for the district, proposed the health of Mr Williams, in eulogistic terms, and concluded by presenting him with an illuminated address.
