Newly-appointed Judge. London, 10th. —Sir John Holker, Q.C., M.P. for Preston, who was At-torney-General in Lord Beaconsfield’s administration, has been appointed to succeed the late Sir Robert Lush as a Lord Justice of Appeal.
PASSENGERS IN QUARANTINE. Melbourne, This Day.—Arrived this morning, the Union Co.’s s.s. Rotorua from the Bluff.
The following are the names of the New Zealand saloon passengers per s.s. Garonne, who are in quarantine :—For Port Chalmers, Mr Butterworth, Mr and Mrs Anderson, Mr Lamberton, Mr F. Coxon, Mr and Mrs Thompson, Mr Lyell. For Auckland, Mr Washbourne, Rev. Mr Ryan, Master Walton. For Lyttelton, Mr Newlyn, Mr Spence, Mr and Mrs Capp. For Taranaki, Mr Barclay. For Napier, Mr Lyndon, Mr Twigg. For Wellington, Rev. Mr Green. Canada. London, 11th.—It is announced that the Marquis of Lome will return to Canada at an early date. Seizure of Arms. Dublin, 11th.—A further extensive seizure of arras has been made by the police at Tralee, in County Kerry, and at Clonmel, in County Tipperary, Ireland.
