A story is current in Wellington to the effect that when the now well known San Francisco House was taken by an American “lady of wealth and style, certain Wellington dames, rather of the nouvelles riches type, hastened to call. When they learned that their cards were adorning the table of a person whose reputation had been blown upon, their feelings were mixed. But time went on, and the fire demon destroyed that wicked house, leaving nothing to show that any proper lady’s card had once been left there. Quiz,
