Second Edition MORE BYE-LAWS.
An adjourned meeting of the Borough Council was held last evening, at the new offices, Egmont Chambers. A quorum was made half-an-hour after the time of meeting. Present: The Mayor, Councillors Taplin, Black, Dixon, and Mahony. Agreed to instruct the committee to prepare bye-laws on the following subjects, and report to the Council for adoption : 1, Impounding 2, Slaughter-house regulations 3, Fire Arms 4, Buildings for public assemblies. Resolved that clause 103 of bye-laws be amended by adding block 46 to the central area of the town within which certain things in particular are prohibited.- This block had been omitted by error. AUDIT. The Mayor was authorised to have the accounts of the late Town Board duly audited before the same are taken over by the new Clerk. It appeared that the Government auditor was in arrear, the accounts not having been officially audited during 18 months, although the Government auditor had been written to. The accounts are now to be gone through by the two auditors to the Council, and a fee of a guinea each is to be paid for this extra work. BEHIND TIME. Councillor Black called attention to the lax attendance of some Councillors, who keep the others waiting at each meeting before a quorum can be formed.
