PATEA STOCK MARKET.

Mr W. Go\vern reports,;—l held my usual monthly sale at the yards, Lincoln street, on January 4th. 134 head of cattle were yarded, besides 100 sheep and about 16 horses.. The weather was, fine, and there was a fair attendance of buyers. I quote dairy cows at £5 10s, fat cows at £4 15s, yearlings and 18-months old cattle at £2 15s to £3, two-year-olds £3 10s to £3 15s. For store cows £3 10s was offered, and for cows and calves £4 5s to £4 7s 6d, but were not up to vendors’ reserves. Competition for cattle was very dull ; several lots were passed in. 11s 3d was realised for 100 ewe hoggetts. Sheep are in great demand. The market is very dull just now for horses, there being - little 'or no demand for them. The sale on the whole was fair. -
