CANTERBURY STOCK MARKET. (From Canterbury Times.) At tbe Addington Yards on 28th Dec., there was only a very small entry of fat sheep and cattle, for which there was very little enquiry, owing to the trade laying in a large supply at last week’s rnaiket. Sheep. —Prime cross-bred wethers sold from 8s 9d to 9s 6d ; good ditto, 7s 9d ; prime merinos, 7s 6d. We quote per. lb as an average for mutton Fat Lambs.— A large entry offered. Prime lots realised from 7s to Bs. A large proportion not reaching owner s reserves were turned out unsold. A few drafts of store merino wethers were offered, but owing to the scarcity of buyers no sales were effected. Fat Cattle. Notwithstanding that only a few pens of good and medium lots were submitted, there was very little competition, and prices ruled about equal to late rates. CANTERBURY GRAIN & PRODUCE. (From Canterbury Times .) The week ending 30th Dec. has presented a very quiet aspect, and transactions in most lines have been limited. Wheat. —Values remain at 4s 4d to 4s 6d for best milling. The enquiry is dull, while only a few odd lots are now and again brought forward; Oats. —We have to note a few sales in second hands of both descriptions, at a slight concession on last week’s prices. Best milling stand at 2s o£d to 2s Id, and feed at Is lOd to 2s. The demand has been confined chiefly to the filling of local and provincial orders. Barley. —There is nothing doing in this grain. Any special lines are saleable at late rates. Flour. —Millers still quote £ll for best brands. Rye-grass. —A Tew- samples of the new seed have been offered, but no business 'has resulted, sellers’ and buyers’ ideas differing considerably.
