FIRES AT WANGANUI. Wanganui.—A shop in Ridgwaystreet, occupied by Mrs Rankin, milliner, was burned: out last night.: The shop was owned by Mr Watt, M. H.R., and was insured. YORK & CORNFOOT’S, f Wanganui.—A fire this morning destroyed the engine-house of York arid Cornfoot’s sash ahd door factory. The main building had a narrow 'escape, but was saved by the splendid exertions of the fire brigade, No insurance., ■ Racing at Bulls. , , , Bulltown.—The races here yesterday were a great success. The Rangitikei St Leger wa& won easily by Taipo. The railway:! handicap was won by Venture, seven starting.; . Ch’church.—The Lyttelton regatta yesterday was/not so largely attended aS usual. Owihig to rough water, both the four bar rowing events had to be postponed. ?;! n . ■ -
