Starting Flax Mill.

We understand that Mr Gaverhill has sold his flax mill at Opunaki, to a Nelson firm, who have been engaged in this industry over twenty years. They ntond to resume operations as soon as the machinery at Opunaki can be put in working order; and they are bringing from Nelson a number of draught horses and skilled men. The starting of this mill will give to Opunaki a much needed 'impulse. ' The. bay will serve for shipping the produce ■: during nine or ten months in the year. A good landing-pier is heeded. The Opunaki. mill was abandoned some years ago, when the pl-ice of dressed flax fell'below a payingpoint. , ; The demand is now good, and is .apparently increasing.
