WAVERLEY-WAITOTARA R.C. MEETING.
An extraordinary general meeting of the above club was held at Mr D. Dallam’s Commercial Hotel Waverley, on Tuesday, Present—Messrs J. Durie D. Dallam, J. Hair, T. Read, G. Newland, G. Nicholson, W. Drewer, C, Symes, A. Symes, W. Newlands, P, Wilson, G. H. Norman, H. F. Mason, J. B. Taylor, J. H. Pollock, W. Wilson, 0. lon, and W. Symes, Hon. Secretary. Mr W. Wilson was voted to the chair, and explained to the meeting that they had been called together to consider the desirability of the club holding an autumn race meeting. The Hon. Sec. having read the minutes of the last annual - general meeting (which were duly confirmed), proceeded to disclose the present financial position of the club. The total receipts for the year were £682, and the total expenditure, including £246 for the grandstand, L 665 ; existing liabilities, L 35, against which there is members’ subscriptions (good) due to the amount of L 44, and donations to the amount of LlO. making a total of L 54, and leaving a small credit balance after paying for the stand and all existing liabilities. The secretary informed the club that the owner of Bylong had wired to him, accepting for both handicaps at the Spring Meeting, and afterwards scratched the horse, and although repeatedly written to, he had neglected to forward the amount of the acceptance money. It was resolved, That the owner of the horse be declared a defaulter to the club, and that notice be sent to other clubs. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Pollock, That the W. and W. Guineas be of 105 sovs, with a sweepstake of 3 guineas each to starters to go to the second horse; nominations, 2 sovs ; acceptance, 4 sovs. A motion to reduce the Guineas to 80 sovs for the first horse, and 20 sovs for the second, was negatived. It was then resolved, on the motion of Mr John Hair, That no member take part in the present meeting whose subscription for the past year is unpaid, and a list of the members whose subscriptions was owing was read to the meeting by the Hon. Sec. Messrs J. Hamilton, E. Symes, and W. Gower, were proposed as members, and will be balloted for at next meeting. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr D. Ballann That an Autumn Meeting be held on the 17 th March (St. Patrick’s Day), and the following programme was thereupon arranged:—Handicap Hurdle Race, of 40 sovs; 2 miles ; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance, 2 sovs. Hack Hurdle Race, of 10 sovs ; usual conditions ; entrance, 1 sov.—Flying Handicap, of 40 sovs ; f-milc ; nomination, 1 sov ; acceptance, 2 sovs.—Sapling Stakes, of 30 sovs ; for 2-year-olds ; Derby weights ; entrance, 2 sovs.—W. and W. Autumn Handicap, of 125 sovs ; If miles ; second horse to receive 25 sovs from the stakes ; nomination, 2 sovs ; acceptance, 5 sovs.— District Handicap, of 60 sovs ; 1£ miles ; for horses that have been the property of residents between the White Cliffs and the Manawatu River for six months previous to nomination, the winner of Autumn Handicap to carry 51hs extra ; nomination, 2 sovs ; acceptance, 3 sovs. —Forced Handicap, of 20 sovs; once round the course ; winners, 1 sov ; losers, 10s. Nominations for Handicaps and Guineas, and entrance for the Sapling Stakes must be made on the sth March; weights declared on the 13th, and acceptance on the 15th March.— Chronicle.
