The cricket match, English team v. Eleven of Victoria, was continued to-dayj and resulted in a victory for the English Eleven by 18 runs. The scores are as follows ;—First innings of the Englishmen, 146 ; Australians, 257. Second innings of the Englishmen, 191 ; Australians, 75. COLLIERY EXPLOSION. London, 19th. A disastrous explosion of fire-damp occurred to-day at the Abram colliery, near Wigan, in Lancashire, by which it is feared many lives will be lost. A large number of men were at work in the mine at the time the disaster occurred, and of these fully two hundred have not yet been rescued. Fire at Brisbane. This Day. Serious fire occurred last night in Petri terrace, resulting in the destruction of several houses.
