R. H. NOLAN and CO’S REPORTAt our fortnightly sales on Ist and 15th instant, there were comparatively few entries, but drapery, groceries, and secondhand furniture brought fair prices. At sale of E. if. Ward’s furniture and effects, prices obtained were satisfactory. On 10th instant we held a sale of the machinery and working plant of the Woodville sawmill. Planing machine brought £260 ; engine and plant were withdrawn at £700: working bullocks ranged from £l3 to £lB 10s per pair ; horses £2O to £26. Produck. —We quote potatoes, eating, £3 10s per ton ; seed £6 to £8 ; Oats 4s to 4s 3d ; rye grass Bs. Stock. —At our special unreserved sale on 7th instant, the attendance was good and bidding brisk. Cattle 180 head were sold. We quote yearlings £2 10s ; heifers 2 to 3 years old, £3 2s 6d ; store cows £3 12 6d ; dairy cows from £4 5s to £7 ; fat cows £4 5s ; store bullocks £5 2s 6d. At Thursday’s sale 308 head of cattle were yarded. There were a largo proportion of bona fide buyers from the Plains present, but without an exception were afraid lo bid. Privately we moved off 220 head, but at quotations far and away below the usual prices. We quote wcaners £2 2s 6d ; yearling heifers £2 7s 6d to £2 16s ; cows and calves £3 7s 6d ; 2-year-old steers £3 5s ; 2-year-old heifers £3 10 ; dairy cows from £4 15 to £6 2s 6d. Horses. —Several entered, but very few were quitted, the greater proportion being of a weedy description. During the month wo disposed privately of about 100 head of Taranaki-bred steers, 2 to 3 years old, at prices ranging from £3 10s to £4 15s.
