CHURCH DISTRICT OF PATEA.

On the Diocesan Synod assembling in .Wellington on Thursday last, Mr Marchant laid on the table a petition from Church members at Patea, praying that their district be formed into a parish, and moved by leave, without notice, that a committee be appointed to consider the petition, which was carried. On Friday, Mr Marchant read the report of a Committee on the formation of a parish at Patea. The report directed that the petition be rejected in consequence of an irregularity. Moved by Mr Marchant, seconded by the Rev. W B. Harvey, “That the report be adopted.” The President and Archdeacon Thorpe pointed out further grave hindrances to the adoption of the report, from the circumstances of the proposed parish, and the late time in the Synod at which it was introduced. Carried.
