Patea Borough Proclamation.
The official , proclamation of the Borough of Patea, in Thursday’s Gazette, declares the Borough to be constituted from the 13th October (last Thursday). A schedule of boundaries is attached, showing the Borough to comprise 1,420 acres ; bounded towards the north-east by the Patea river ; towards the south-west by the ocean to a point at which, the production of the north-western boundary line of suburban allotment No. 55 intersects high-water mark; thence towards the north-west and north by a right line to the most westerly corner of said allotment, by allotments Nos 56 and 17, and by a road-line north-east of allotments Nos 18, 9, 6, and 7, and the south-eastern side of that road produced to the Patea river, the commencing point. THE ELECTIONS, The dates of election arc also A gazetted. Mr Harris is appointed Town Clerk and Returning Officer pro tern.., to conduct the first elections, and the dates fixed are : Mayor’s election, November 15th. Councillors’ election, Thursday, 17 th. Auditors’ election, Friday, 18th. First meeting of new Council is fixed for the following Monday, 21st, at noon, at the Town Board office.
