RIFLE HANDICAP.
On Saturday the first of six monthly competitions took place on the Patea Rifle rnngo, for a silver medal offered by Patea officers for the highest handicap score at end of six months. Corporal Powell stands highest with first day’s aggregate of G9 points, two shots each range ; but the handicap is intended to make the chances fairly even for each competition. The prize is a pretty Maltese silver cross with blue ribbon and clasp; on one side an engraved rifleman, and on I lie other side an inscription. Saturday's scoring was as follows: 300 F, 00 TTden. TL
