WEST COAST COMMISSION.
When the item, expenses West Coast Commission, £2,000, was under consideration in the House, Sir William Fox explained that the main expense was occasioned by the necessity for organising a large special survey staff. He conld not say how long it would ■■take, to-complete* the settlement of the question, but hoped he should very nearly have completed it by the lime the i House mot again next year. So far the work I)ad progressed very satisfactorily to!himself. Up to the present time he , had, practically, completed all the work ‘ in the district south, of Oco, about onehalf, of the whole work to be done, and now he could natee every grantee in . that part of the district. The other hall triight be more difficult, but he had no feaif of not settling it satisfactorily.— said he, as Minister of Native Affairs, was the person responsible, and ho was entirely satisfied with wh*t Sir William Fox had done and was doing.
