CANTERBURY GRAIN & PRODUCE, (From Canterbury Times.)
The week ending 9th Sept, has passed over very quietly in the grain market. The enquiry has not been less brisk, and rates have been rather unsteady. The recent English telegrams report a fall in the Home markets, but as stocks are not over heavy here, prices, although affected, will not likely recede to any great extent locally. Wheat. —The later telegrams have unsettled prices slightly, and good milling is now quoted at 4s 4d to 4s 6d. Parcels of second quality has -been sold at 4s Id to 4s 3d, and split fit for milling 3s 9d to 3s lOd.
Oats. —There is little change in the value of either milling or feed oats. The former are quoted at 2s to 2s Id, and the latter a Is lOd to 2s.
Flour is still quoted at £ll, millers not yet having announced the anticipated advance.
Potatoes’ —Values are simply nominal, and there has been absolutely no business. Dairy produce unchanged.
