POLITICAL GOSSIP.

(BY TKLEGKAI’H ) FROM OUR PARLIAMENTARY CORRESPONDENT. WINDING-UP THE SESSION. N. P. HARBOR BILL. Wellington, This Day. The Honse| was occupied last night discussing amended clauses in Licensing Bill respecting clubs. A committee was appointed to confer with .the Council, to arrange compromise on disputed amendments and save the hill from being lost. Since the Representation Bill passed the Lower House, matters have been quiet, but it is anticipated on the return of Mr Ormond from Napier, that a new party struggle will commence. Government have determined to make a slaughter of the innocents at once, to get the Estimates passed, and bring the session to a speedy close. New Plymouth Harbor Bill is now printed, and will be brought on as the fii'lt Government measure. It provides for three Com missioners, with power to slop works if necessary. This is a departure from the emphatic resolution of the House. Macandrew is expected to be one of the Commissioners.
