ONE SIDEDNESS.
The Canterbury Times blames the Premier for not having the moral conrage to stop the New Plymouth harbor works promptly, on the recommendation of the .Committee of which Mr Wright was chairman, instead of ..suggesting a Commission of Inquiry, and referring to the report says—The : evidence does not want any study at all. It is simply a collection of facts, which being facts, must be accepted at once. A thousand years of consideration may be more m accordance with the official mind, but they will not affect the facts. Delay is< simply absurd. The country districts, moreover, are not at one with New Plymouth, which has not a leg to .stand on. -.. There has been opposition in the i; House to some Sonth Island harbors expenditure. It was specially urged against Timaru that the harbor was -rapidly filling up with shingle. The .Canterbury Times feels that this is serious for Timaru, recommends patience in those in charge of the money bill to aid Timaru, under the impression the harbor panic will pass away, and reason once more will return to the contemplation of facts and figures, as if the facts and figures. against Timarn were not equally reliable as those against New Plymouth.
