Native Lands Court.

Thursday, before Judge Puckcy. Mnngaotuku block, adjourned case from yesterday. Natives banded in a list of claimants admitted, which were agreed to, and the names were entered in the order of the Court for the block, exclusive of about 6,000 acres, which being confiscated land could not be dealt with. Major Parris then asked that the interests of the Government in the block might be defined, and produced deed of cession. The Court awarded twenty-tvvo-tliirtieths to the Crown, and eight-thirtieths to Mr Duncan’s clients. Tho Court then adjourned to enable Major Parris and Mr Duncan to come to agreement as to location. FRIDAY. Major Parris and Mr Duncan said they had come to agreement, and asked that the Court ratify it, which was done. Mr Duncan’s clients thus get 8,540 acres, subject to a lien of £332 for survey when plan i 8 complete ; and the remainder goes to the Crown. Tutaeariari, rehearing claim, withdrawn. The block had been sub-divided by deed, Aorere getting 3,000 acres, and the rest of claimants tho balance. Rahui, rehearing. Considerable trouble was caused by the natives not being able to make clear to the Court the particulars as to which they claim. When the natives surveyed the adjoining block, they also included a small piece which they knew as Raimi, but by some misunderstanding another block was called Rahui, and passed the Land Court in 1880 under that name, the natives being under the impression that their Rahui was the land passed. As soon as they found out their mistake, they at once sent in an application for rehearing. The Court went into the question fully, but finding the evidence lengthy adjourned at 4.30 till Saturday.
