Petrolkuji.— The managing director of the petroleum company formed at Gisborne, while in Melbourne disposed of the 15,000 shares in a few hours Soap and candles can be manufactured from the mineral grease on the company’s ground. The value of the petroleum grease, freed from earth, in the Melbourne maiket, is £2B per ton. Two and a half tons of paraffin wax and a quantity of petroleum oil from the South Pacific Petroleum Company have been sent to Sydney, for the purpose of thoroughly ascertaining its ■ commercial value. The Lyttelton Times in a lengthy article having reference to the expulsion of Mr Bradiaugh from the British House of Commons, says—“ The Conservatives, who have led the House in this Bradiaugh matter, have decidedly made a mistake. Under cover of privilege, they have got the House to do that which a hundred years ago it virtually determined it had not : the power to do, viz., declare an' individual ineligible to a seat in Parliament,” Councillor Diver of the Wellington City Council has suggested,, that it would be advisable for The Mayor, as member for the city, to ask the Government to undertake the formation of a Government Eire Insurance Department, so that municipalities might be relieved of the heavy rates they have to pay to other insurance companies. r
