PROTESTS' AGAINST NEW PLYMOUTH HARBOR.
(By Telegraph.) Waitara, Wednesday. A public meeting is called here for to-night, to support the report of the Select Committee on New Plymouth harbor works, A telegram from New Plymouth states that an organised opposition parly of New Plymouth people will leave for Waitara this afternoon with the view of obstructing the meeting. The feeling of country settlers in Waitara district is strongly in favor of the report being adopted and lire works stopped. A public meeting is called for Thursday at Mauaia, to protest against the rating of Wairnate Plains land for a harbor at New Plymouth, on the ground that snob a harbor can be of no possible use to the Plains. A petition&gainst the harbor scheme is also mooted at Hawrra.
