LONDON SEED TRADE. Messrs John Shaw and Sons, London, i-eport that the market during the fortnight ending June 3rd, was, as usual at this time of the year, extremely quiet) there having been only a few retail sales, caused by some welcome rains. The season closed with stocks all round unusually light. For sowing mustard and rape seed there was more demand, the latter at an advance of 2s per quarter. Canary seed was meeting with increased attention. Rye grass was very scarce, the consumption having been very great during the past season. CANTERBURY GRAIN & PRODUCE. (From Canterbury Times.) The week ending July 29 has been exceedngly quiet in the grain market,’ business having been considerably interrupted by the bad weather. Wheat.— Best milling is selling at 3s 8d to 3s lid. Oats. —Best milling 2s to 2s Id, and feed Is 8d to Is lid. Potatoes. —During the week prices have hardened, and growers are not disposed to accept less than 37s 6d to 40s. For August delivery 45s has been paid. Dairy Produce is without quotable alteration. CANTERBURY STOCK REPORT. (From Canterbury Times.) There was a very small attendance of the trade at Addington on the 20th, when 3067 sheep, 361 head of cattle, and 77 pigs were penned for the week’s supply. Sheep. —Owing to the very rough State of the weather during the past few days, only a small supply was brought forward. Prime cross breds realised 16s 6d ; good ditto, from 13s to 15s. Prime quality merinos brought 13s ; good ditto, from 9s 6d to 11s. We quote from 2£d to 2£d per lb as an average for mutton. Cattle. —There was a good supply of fat stock, which was in excess of the requirements of the trade. We quote 21s per 1001b as an average for fat cattle. Only a few pens of stores were offered, which found buyers at prices equal to last week’s rates.
