KAKARAMEA.
(from our correspondent.) Wednesday Exening. Railway. —After some months of one may say unremitting labor, the great contract No. 6 near the site of the railway station undertaken by Messrs Scelly and McLaughlin, is approaching completion. That of Messrs Gairnes, a continuation of the above towards Manutahi, will be finished in a week or two if the weather keeps fine. Town Hall. —A meeting of the Town Hall Committee was held on Saturday last. Most of the members were present. Several accounts were passed for payment and the meeting adjourned. I am informed that it is the intention of one or two gentlemen of the district to import a few hares. If these animals are introduced, the old sport of coursing will doubtless come into prominence among other amusements of Patea County. This will necessarily improve the breed of greyhounds, as to have capital coursing it is essential to have a good dog.
