HEAVY PENALTIES FOR SCAB.

A Wiii nu npa journal says that the Scab Act is sometimes worse than the scab itself was proved at the R.M. Court. An unlucky owner, who had dipped his flocks repeatedly was fined £37 10s, or at the rate of threepence per head on 3,000 sheep, because scab was found on a solitary lamb a few weeks old. The “ lambing down ” of the owner was about as difficult as the disinfecting of the sheep, for it required the united exertions of three sheep inspectors. In a second prosecution a fine of £4O 15s was inflicted, which, with £2 3s costs, made a total of £BO Ss, of which the defendant, Mr Murray was relieved, as the result of his collision with the scab authorities.
