(FROM our correspondent.) Wednesday Evening. One of the finest beef carcases that I have ever seen is now on view at Mr Brodie’s shop. For quality it is not to be surpassed. When dressed, it was found to weigh 14 cwt., and fully 2 cwt. of loose fat was taken from the inside. The animal was pastured on Mr R. B. Pearce’s farm, which is a short distance from the town. Consideiing the time of year, when good feed is scarce, the splendid condition of the animal proves that as a pastoral district this is unrivalled. The railway construction is being pushed on rapidly, and it is reported that the Ijne from Patea to Manutahi will not be very long before it is completed. This will be an important link in the chain between Wanganui and New Plymouth,
