Land Tax. —lf large land holders in New Zealand were compelled to pay annually one per cent on the value of their immense estates they would soon find it to their interest to cut them into suitable sized farms, and sell them to the highest bidder. Such a tax would bring in a large revenue, and prevent the greatest calamity that could befall any country by land becoming the property of a few individuals.
