WAVERLEY.

The Mail has over 90 subserhers between Whenuahura and Waitotara. BRANCH OFFICE OF THE MAIL , Monday Evening. Mr F. R. Jackson held his monthly stock sale on Friday last. The attendance was small, and the buyers few. The sheep, however, fetched good prices. The third of the series of quadrille assemblies took place on Friday evening, the weather, as usual, being wet. There was a very good attendance, however, and dancing was kept up with spirit till 12 o’clock.

WAIBOA HIGHWAY BOARD. A special meeting of the above Board was held on Friday, 10th instant. Present : Messrs Aiken, Johnston, McLean, and Chairman. Report received from the Foreman of Works. Accounts passed for payment —J. W Hughes, £6 ; Richter, Nannestad, & Co., £45 18s fid; J. Verry, £4 16s; J. Shnaffle, £2 10s. Resolved, That tenders be called for Harris’s road by next meeting. Resolved, That the Foreman of Works employ a man for one month to do necessary repairing on the roads, at a rate not to exceed 6s per day. Resolved, That the secretary write to the Education Board informing them that the Board is unable to spend sufficient money for improvements required from main road to Waitotara School without the assistance of a grant from the Education Board. Resolved, That the secretary prepare a statement by next meeting showing amount received on account of deferred payments in Blocks 8 and 9, Momahaki, and also expenditure to date ; and find out amount due, or to come to hand, from said payments.
