PATEA WEST ROAD BOARD .
The first meeting of the new Board was held on Thursday, 9th June. Present, Messrs Chapman, Paterson, Ball, Marchant, Gibbs, Morgan, and J. Williamson, Mr. F. M. Chapman was unanimously re-elected chairman.
Mr W. Dale was re-elected secretary on same terms as last year, and it was agreed to hold meetings at the Kakaramea Town Hall, at 2 o’clock, on the second Thursday in every alternate month. On the motion of Mr Ball, seconded by Mr Paterson, it was resolved to strike a rate of threepence iu the £ for the ensuing year, Messrs Chapman, Paterson, and Ball to sign the rate book. On the motion of Mr E. J. Morgan, seconded by Mr Paterson, it was resolved to call the attention of the County Council to the injury being done to the Tumaha road through metal being carted at this season of the year, thereby rendering the road impassable for settlers. Mr Chapman and Mr Paterson were appointed to interview Mr Fairweather re fencing through the Education reserve, with power to act. The meeting adjourned.
