MAORI WIZARD.

The Taranaki Herald of the 6th June says: A disturbance occurred early this week at the Waiwakaiho native settlement, during which a native who had returned from Parihaka had his whare pulled down, and was roughly treated. It appears the native, whose name is Hiaka, has been residing under the protecton of Te Whiti for the last two years, having been compelled to do so owing to the natives of his own hapu declaring he was a wizard, and that they had caught him performing some incantations in the dead of night over two other natives, who subsequently died. For this supposed crime he was obliged to place himself under the care of Te Whiti. Doubtless thinking that the prejudice against him had vanished, he last week returned to Waiwakaiho, but only to find out that he was still hated by his tribe, and to be driven back again to Parihaka,
