AMERICA AND AUSTRALASIA.

The Australasian is the name of anew paper published in New York, which is to be devoted to the extension of American commerce with Australia, &c. It is to be published every four weeks, so as to be forwarded to the colonies by the mail steamers leaving San Francisco. The paper is well got up, handsomely printed upon excellent paper ? and the illustrations in the advertisements are more like works of art than those belonging to ordinary trade notices. The editor in his preliminary notice states : “ We propose to devote ourselves solely and entirely to the mutual commercial interests of the colonies of Australasia and the United States of America, by promoting as much as possible the trade between the two countries, which has been opened up in the last few years, and which is expanding so rapidly—as rapidly, in fact, as the now limited communication between our manufacturers and exporters and dealers in Australia will permit of.”
