Domain Board.
The monthly meeting of the Patea Domain Board was held on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs Taplin (in the chair), Tennent, Dale, and Adams. Resolved, on the motion of Mr Tennent, that the reserve on the west side of the recreation ground be leased in two paddocks for five years, and that trees be planted in belts and groups, under the direction of the Chairman and Mr Sherwood, and as far as possible in accordance with plan drawn originally for the Town Board. Agreed to ask the Town Board to advance LSO to the Domain Board, for three years, to meet preliminary expenses of tree planting, in order that the present season may not be lost; this being a quid pro quo in respect of money formerly belonging to the Domain, but used temporarily for works in the town. The Town Board are also to be asked to plant two mapped streets which abut on the Domain. Letter from the Football Club, held over from the previous meeting, was answered-to the effect that football may be played within five yards of the cricket pitch, north end, the space thence to the fence being now 140 yards available for The club had asked for 120 yards, and this concession will leave 10 yards behind the goal at each end. It was agreed also that every infringement beyond this space shall be met by prosecution for breach of bye-laws and of regulations as to area for games. The Board adjourned.
