ERUPTION AT SEA.

It is reported from Auckland that at ten o’clock on the morning of the 19th, Mr Hedley, Government surveyor, observed from the steamer Glenelg, a remarkable eruption between Slipper and Major Island, situated at the northern end of the Bay of Plenty. The water rose to a height of four feet, and spread over a circle of sixty feet, throwing up sand, shells, stones, and mnd. The steamer was only about twenty yards outside the circle. The water kept boiling some time.
