ANOTHER SAWMILL BURNED AT AUCKLAND.

Defendant was ordered to pay in a fortnight.

At about half-past three on Tuesday morning, a tire was observed in the saw mill of Messrs dagger and Parker, on (lie reclaimed land, Freeman's Bay. The firehells rang, and soon a crowd gathered to the spot. Before the fire was discovered it had a firm hold on the building, and it was seen there was] no chance of saving any part of the premises. Part of the stock in the yard was saved, but the greater part of it was destroyed, as well as the buildings. The saw mill appeared to have a large stock of timber in it, all of which was destroyed. The mill and stock was worth from £2OOO to £3OOO. The lire was first seen in the centre of the building near the steam engine. The building and stock it contained was totally destroyed There is no insurance on property. Recently the premises and machinery were sold for about £1,500, but additions have since boon made.
