RECEIVED LAST NIGHT. IMMIGRANT REFUGEES. Sydney, Thursday. A deputation of Italian residents in this city waited on the Premier to-day and presented him with a letter expressing thanks for assistance and shelter afforded to Italian immigrants belong ing to the Marquis De Ray’s expedition, who recently arrived in a destitute condition. OPUNAKE NEWS. Friday Afternoon. Mr Rolleston and Mr Parris came through from New Plymouth yesterday afternoon by a coach and four, driven by Mr Hall, along the new road opened by the constabulary. This cross road reduces the distance from fifty to thirtysix miles. The Native Minister, Mr Rolleston, had an interview with Wi Kingi and other influential natives, and proceeded to Hawera this morning en route for Wellington. The steamer Samson lay here all day on Wednesday, discharging a large quantity of timber and other cargo.
