WAVERLEY.
The Mail has over 90 subscribers between Whenualcura and Waitotara. BRANCH OFFICE OF THE MAIL, Monday Evening. Business. —The railway seems to have drawn all the trade from the township, as during the last fortnight the place has looked almost deserted. The traffic in timber is something beyond our calculation as there is barely room to lay it off the trucks till such time as it can be carted away. The coaches morning and afternoon are now up to time and there is no hitch in the arrangements for daily passenger traffic with New Plymouth and Wanganui. Circuit Changes. —The Rev. J. Law who was Wesleyan Minister in Patea, being predecessor to Mr Fairclotigb lias just been transferred from Onobunga to Laurence, Otago. Before leaving, his friends in Onebunga resolved to shew their appreciation of him as a clergyman and their esteem for him as a man by presenting him with a valuable gold hunting watch, while the ladies presented Mrs Law with a silver plated tea-pot as a proof that she had gained their respect. These tokens of good-will to their former pastor and his wife will be veiy gratifying to Mr Law’s friends in the Patea district, while the fact of its being the first presentation made in a circuit which has been in existence for twenly years must speak for itself.
