KAKARAMEA.
O’ BOM OCR CO EBESPO N D ENT.) Friday evening. The finishing of the first contracts on this part of the line caused a slight dulness in our town. Business will I think I’evivc now that the No 5 contract is to be proceeded with at once. As this is rather an extensive affair we can look forward to a considerable influx of the population. Besides Messrs Skelly and McLaughlau’s contract, one or two smaller contracts have been let to Messrs Kearnes, who have commenced operations on Hearn and Kennedy’s land. The last entertainment having proved a great success financially, the Committee has been enabled not only to pay off old scores, but also to make a large addition to the number of volumes. Those who pay the Library a visit on Saturday will be agreiably surprised to see all the shelves filled with well-selected works. I am glad to say that of late there has been no falling off in the number of subscribers.
