WELLINGTON GOSSIP.

Wellington, 23rd. By vote last night in City Council the oiler of Harbor Board to purchase the Queen’s wharf for £04,000 was carried.

The Premier will not return with the Governor by the next steamer, as some private business detains him in Canterbury. His Excellency is expected here on Friday next. The Minister of Public Works will return on Sunday next from the South. Eighty civil cases are set down for hearing in R. M. Court to-morrow. This is the highest number on record for Wellington. Sarah Kent, one more unfortunate, who received nine months’ sentence, rushed on the Bench with malice aforethought. Two constables contributed to the safety of the Magistrate, baruh was not consoled.
