EDITOR IN TROUBLE.

Hamilton, Waikato, Wednesday. At tlie District Court to-day, Mr Mactavish brought an action against Mr Joseph Ivess for alleged wrongful dismissal from the editorship of the Waikato Mail, claiming the sum of £IOO damages. The defendant conducted his own case, and contended that plaintiff had suspended one publication of the paper, and had also reproduced old news which had appeared in previous issue ; also that the plaintiff had insulted his customers, resulting in loss and damage to his business. Experts were called on both sides as to the impropriety of such proceedings. Judge McDonald gave a verdict for plaintiff for £SO, remarking that the defendant had conducted his case with great skill and ability, and it was a pity he did not hold a brief for others. Defendant gave notice of appeal.
