A cart loaded with a ton of firewood passed over the stomach of a little boy six years old, in Parnell, Auckland, without breaking his ribs or injuring his spine. It is believed the boy will recover. Harvesting in South Australia is nearly over. The average yield of wheat will, it is estimated, barely average six bushels per acre. In most cases there has been plenty of straw, but very little grain; crops expected to yield 15 and 16 bushels per acre only reaching seven and eight bushels.
