AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report under date Melbourne, 26th ult :—. Wool.— At the usual weekly sale on the Monday preceding the date of report 750 bales were submitted, and there was a full attendance of the trade. Greasy realised 8d to 15R1, this latter figure being obtained for a lot intended originally for the International Exhibition Wool Show, a similarly good price being got for a parcel of scoured, 26d per lb, also intended for the Exhibition Show. Fleece brought from Is to Is 11R1 per lb. Sheepskins. —Quotations, lamb skins, Is 8d to 2s each ; butchers’ pelts, up to 2s 3d each ; dry skins, 3s 6d to 5s 6d each ; station skins (in bales), 4RI to 7cl per lb ; dry pelts, 9d to Is 6d. Hides.— A good business during the week, sales being well attended, and biddings good. New Zealand parcels and Victorian heavies still command attention. New Zealand, up to 44d per lb. Tallow.— The high rate of freights ruling still prevent shippers operating. The only demand at present is to supply local requirements at quotations as follows :—Beef, £24 to £26 per ton ; Mutton, £25 to £27 per ton ; mixed, £22 to £25 10s per ton ; inferior, £l7 to £2O per ton. NEW PLYMOUTH MARKETS. Mr Conitney, New Plymouth, reports : I held my usual sale at Glenavon on Thursday, when the number of cattle yarded were in excess of requirements, although what did sell realised fair prices. The following prices were obtained :—8 18-month-olds, £3 3s each ; 22 calves, 32s 6d to 33s 6d ; 7 fine calves, £2 5s to £2 12s 6d ; 11 yearling steers, £2 16s ; 8 yearling heifers, good quality, £2 17s 6d ; 8 20-month-old steers, £4 ; 3 cows, calves at foot, £4 7s 6d per cow and calf : 3 store cows, £3 7s 6d to £4 ; 2 2-year-old heifers, £4 ; 2 24-year-old do, £5 5s : 3 cows, £4 7s Gd to £5 ; 1 good cow, £7 12s 6d ; 5 yearlings, £2 15s ; 8 old steers, £4 17s 6d : small pair of bullocks, yokes, bows, and cart, £3O ; 20 small lambs, Gs ; 81 do, 5s 6d ; no good dairy cows were yarded,
