An Otago deferred payment selector having become bankrupt, happens to have an unreaped grain crop which the immediate granting of the debtor’s discharge would give him the benefit of. Mr Justice Williams, in refusing the discharge, amongst other remarks, said that when deferred payment holders had a section which was likely to produce a good crop, the Legislature did not intend that a bankrupt should reap the benefit of the crops, and become a rich man at the expense of his creditors.
