A meeting of the Carlyle School Committee was held yesterday afternoon, when there were present, Messrs Sherwood (chairman), J. Black, Taplin, Haraerton and G. A. Hurley. NOMINATIONS. In view of the election of new members to the Wanganui Education Board, the following nominations were made : Mr G. F. Sherwood, Proposed by Mr S. Taplin, seconded by Mr J. Black. Mr W. H. Watt, Proposed by Mr G. D. Hamerton, seconded by Mr G. A. Hurley. Mr W. Williams, Proposed by Mr G. A. Hurley, seconded by Mr S. Taplin. general. It was resolved to strictly enforce the compulsory clause of the Education Act 1877, in the case of children, male or female, between the ages of 7 and 13 years. The school-master reported that the one shilling per head solicited from parents towards school expenses was coming in less freely than even last quarter.
