POLITICS UN CHILI.

The political aspect of things in the Pacific is disheartening in the eyes of humanity. Bitter hatred and dire vengeance seem to he the rule. The Chilians are not generous in their victories, and will listen to peace only after Lima is taken hy force of arms. The destruction of the Loa and Covadonga seems to have created in Chili, among the people and Legislature, a spirit of destruction that nothing will abate save dictation to the enemy on the very ramparts of Lima. The Chilian Government has been put to serious difficulties by the mob and the opposition in the Legislature; cries of “ Down with the President” have been heard in the very house of the Legislature, and the Ministry are accused of being too willing to listen to terms of peace instead of carrying on the war with energy, and postponing the ultimate triumph of the nation by unfit proceedings in the march to Lima.
