ENGLISH CROPS. The latest issue of the Mark Lane Expires to hand by the Suez mail contains the following reference to the English crops : —Our reports this week speak of considerable progress having been made with autumn work of all kinds; and at the same time a good deal of threshing has been done. Good seed wheat has been very scarce this season, and samples of wheat in thoroughly good condition are few and far between at the present time. Complaints continue as to the deficiency in the yield of the harvest of 1880, and before the cereal year is ended, the lowest estimates yet given will probably be found to have been made considerably a too high. Root crops are turning out well, and mangels have been about cleared up during past week. Swede crops are heavy, and there is an abundance of common turnips which arc in excellent condition. Keep, therefore, is very plentiful. In more prosperous times the price of stores would have been very high under present conditions, but the scarcity of money amongst farmers keeps the trade in a dull state at low rates.
