RECEIVED LAST NIGHT.

( Renter's Despatches to the Mail.) Pressure by Home Rulers. Strong Measures Threatened. REPUDIATION OV RENT.?. London, 17tli. In the House of Commons to-day, the debate on the Address in Reply to the Queen’s speech was resumed. Mr Justin McCarthy, Home Rule Member for County Longford, Ireland, moved as an amendment that the Government should refrain from using the military to enforce the ejectment of tenants until the Land Bill was passed, and made a lengthy speech in support of his motion. Mr W. E. Gladstone, in reply, said he deemed the amendment as an insult to the throne, and as an attempt to obstruct the action of the Government. He hinted that strong measures would be taken to prevent any such obstruction. Mr Parnell also spoke on the motion, and in the course of his speech admitted that the ultimate object of the Land League was to secure autonomy for Ireland. He deprecated the commission by the Land Leaguers of any act likely to lead to revolution, but added that the first arrest under the measure of coercion would be the signal for the complete repudiation of rents by the Irish tenants. The debate lasted the whole sitting, and was further adjourned till to-morrow. ARBITRATION ABANDONED. London 18th.
