The new potatoe digger, the “ Champion manufactured by Wallace and Sons Glasgow, acts as follows A shore under the machine disturbs the potatoes in the trench and a wheel at the back, furnished with “ grapes” or forks round the felloe, throws them against a screening arrangement, made of light wooden bars, placed at the side, by which the potatoes are separated from the dirt, and thrown in a row along the aide of the trench. The machine can be adapted to work in trenches of various widths. Jerusalem.— -A wonderful change has taken place in Jerusalem of late years,' and it is probably now a more comfortable residence than ever before in its history. Ruined houses have been restored or rebuilt by individuals or companies,- andbuildings on the Peabody plan have been erected by associations. The streets are now lighted, kept for an Eastern city most exceptionally clean, and the aqueduct from the Pools of Solomon, has been restored and water brought thence to the city.
