The meeting of the Executive Council will be held this month in Auckland, re the Chatham Island murderer’s fate. It is remarked here that the Government have a tendency of making Auckland important, if not the Empire City. They need watching. MISSING, Wellington, Monday. Investors in a four thousand pound sweep are enquiring with touching affection for friend George. Why is he not at home ? It is feared he has lost his way somewhere, and cannot get back to the bosom of his family. It is said his wife has also left home—to look for George. His absence at this time, when so many friends are enquiring for him, is very sad, Wellington, Later. Report comes that George was seen on the ’Frisco steamer. He is perhaps tired of sweeps, and is going to join the Mormons. In that case he will pay his debts, with bank interest added.
