Freeman R. Jackson’s Stock Report. Wednesday, December 29. The holidays have interfered with stock operations, little business being done Prices for cattle are a shade lower, and beef in full supply with a dull market. At this season of the year sclleis must accept low rates for fat cattle. Sheep are much enquired for, any coming forward meeting a capital market. I could place a large number, at full rates. Cattle. —At Waverloy, 102 head were yarded—Fat cows, £5 10s; cows and calves, £4 2s Gd to £5 10s; yearlings, £2 15s. At the yards to-day, 142 head came forward—Fat cows, £5 5s to £6 15s ; steers, £4 7s 6d to £5 ; yearlings, £2 7s 6d to £3. Sheep. —B4l were permed—Fat weathers and ewes, in wool, 13s Gd ; shorn, 9s 3d ; stores, in wool, lls 9d ; shorn, 7s 3d. Pics.—Store pigs, 13s to 15s Gd ; fat porkers, 16s 6d to 255. Horses. —Over forty head made up the sale. Prices ruled low, but a large proportion were sold. Exports. —66 cattle, 550 sheep and 22 horses. CANTERBURY STOCK. (From Canterbury Times.') There was a large attendance of the trade at the Addington Yards on Wednesday, but the competition was dull throughout. All kinds of stock suffered somewhat in consequence, the greatest drop being in beef. The entries for the day comprised 6,572 sheep, 466 cattle, and 76 pigs. Sheep. —The fat sheep yarded were above the average in quality. One pen of extra prime cross-breds realised 15s ; best lots from the remaining pens, 9s ; good do., 8s 6d. The merinos sold at various prices up to 6s 9d. We quote mutton at Ijjd per lb. There were no sheep in the wool to hand. One large line of merino stores, failing to reach owner’s reserve, was passed in. Fat lambs of prime quality sold for 10s ; good do., 8s 6d; others from 5s 6d to 7s. Cattle. —There was a large supply of fat cattle, for which the bidding was very dull. We quote prime beef at 18s per lOOlbs. The stores brought forward were not up to the average in quality, and there was accordingly a fall in prices, though not so great in comparison as for beef. Two to throe-year-olds realised from £4 15s to £6 ; mixed yearlings to two years, from £2 10s to £4. Pigs sold at prices ranging from £1 10s to £2 ss. NEW PLYMOUTH EE TAIL PEICES. Mill Peices. — Taranaki flour, 14s 6d per lOOibs : silk-dressed (Star brand), 15s Gd ; wheat meal, 13s 6s; chick’s wheat, 4s Gd per bushel ; sharps, 8s per lOOibs, or sack 10s ; bran, 4s per sack ; oats, 3s per bushel; oatmeal, 4s Gel per bag (251bs); maize (best screened), 5s Od per bushel.
