Cocksure —A brown horse, bred by Henry Redwood, Esq., in 1872, Got by the imported horse Towton, out of Certainty. Certainty the dam of Dead Shot, sire of Mata, the New Zealand champion racehorse of the day. Certainty is by 11 Barbicrc, her dam Chance by Sir Hercules, out of Finesse by Toss, out of Flirt by Mariner (Arab). Towton (own brother to the Peer), bred in England in 1850, got by Melbourne out of Cinzclli by Touchstone, Brocade by Pantaloon. Cinzelli the winner of the 2000 guineas, and dam of Towton, the Peer, and Marquis. Cock sunn is rising 8 years old ; as a 3-year-old, won the Hutt Park Stakes and Auckland Handicap, and was winning the Auckland Cup easy when he ran oil the course, and was never raced afterwards.
